Niebla
When the young protagonist of this story finds a photo album in the cabinet, something seems strange. There are photos of his parents and grandparents, of his aunts and uncles, and his dog . . . but none of him. Where was he? How could his room exist without his toys in it, or the refrigerator without his drawings?
First published in 1914, Niebla is one of the greatest examples of the new narrative genre created by Unamuno: the nivola. As the characters of this work tell us, the nivola tries to express the chaos that is part of our lives through abundant dialogue and the rejection of a traditional plot. Philosophical and metaliterary, Niebla is also one of the most exciting texts of its author.
